Fyel is the native name for what is in modern Earth the Mid-Oceanic Ridge. It is a long, immense chain of mountains, divided down the center by a deep rift. Weather systems are often temporarily halted by it, so it is notorious for high winds and extreme conditions. It is one of the only locations that Humans have settled that occasionally has snow, particularly at higher and lower latitudes. The main species that has settled the Fyel mountain range are the Mang Khyel, who have all but subjugated the humans in the area as the result of a series of previous wars.
